Jim and brother Matty Spencer were honoured to catalogue the works on paper from the important Eric Morecambe Collection, which had been preserved in Eric & Joan’s home in Harpenden. This vast collection includes scripts, letters, manuscripts, photographs, diaries, scrapbooks, and much, much more! Here, Jim talks live with the BBC about the significance of these papers, and how they reveal Eric’s fervent dedication to making people smile – ceaselessly honing the comic finesse that made him a national treasure who attracted millions of viewers with The Morecambe & Wise Show.  Hansons Auctioneers in Derbyshire will be hosting The Eric Morecambe Collection Auction on 10-11 January 2025, overseen by sale manager Victoria Sheppard.
